Magazine Reseach
A few weeks ago, the media class went out to our local town to Gerrards Cross to go to WHSmith. We went here so that we could look at the different ranges of magazines that are sold and to look at how women are represented in the media. We picked up the Women's health, Men's health and Cosmopolitans. We then spent the next few lessons looking through these magazines and comparing both the Womens health and Cosmopolitain with the Mens health together and seeing if there were any similarities or differences between how men and women are presented in media. We notice that the men are presented with blues and blacks colours to show muscularity. Whereas both of the women's magazines show women looking seductive with little bare skin showing on their stomachs and pinks and purple, presenting the stereotype of a women. However, both men and women magazines show how to work out and look the best with nutritious hacks. This primary data will help us get a wider idea of how women are presented in the media and will help in our exam.
Mamma Mia 2!
On Thursday, I was lucky enough to go to the set of Mamma Mia 2 which is being filmed in Shepperton Studios. I was invited to go on set as my dad is currently working on the film as camera operator and he wanted me to see the scene he was filming which was a dance and musical scene. This was so interesting and the set and costumes were amazing. I got to meet the director named Ol Parker who was very nice and let me sit in his directors chair and watch the pre trainer for the film called the sizzler. I also meet the main actress on the film who plays the young Donner called Lilly James known for staring in Cinderella and Baby Driver.
This was a great opportunity as it gave me an insight of what it would be like to be working in the film industry and what it would be like to spend the day on set. I was surprise at the amount of times one shot would take and how they had to redo it multiple times just to get the right take. I also was taken back at the amount of people involved and the different jobs everyone has, such as lighting, focus puller, hair and makeup, extras, dancers, doubles, runners, camera assistance, dance choreographers, producers and directors. This did not only help with my media but also my interest in dance as I could see first hand experience of what it would be like to work on a film as a dancer.

Audience Expectations
To increase my research for my short film, I gathered 5 different peoples views and expectations for my short film. This was useful as I can now listen back to some useful points that my target audience brought up. Such as lightening to reflect her mood.

My Final Preliminary Task
Here is my final edit of my preliminary task based on a short film called 'the social life'. I did my filming seperatly from the filming of my phone screen. I then used final cut for the first time to insert the screen ontop of my short film. I have learn loads of different techniques on final cut already such as cropping and inserting an image or clip, I have learnt how to split clips and generally understand how to work on this software as it is very different from imovie.
Struggles I had to face:
Whilst making my preliminary task I had to over come some issues along the way such as sending my edited work over from my laptop to my destop due to issues of not posting. This wasnt to hard to do but it did meant that the quality of the filming is quite poor. Once I uploaded my first draft, I needed to edit the phone screen clips onto Mrs Williams Mac as she had final cut, however, when I came to export both of my filming clips, my preliminary task got lost. I therefore, had to convert it off youtube to then exported onto the laptop, which meant, again it lost quality. I think I over came this problem well and I have also learnt alot in the process which is a positive.
Finally, I notice that I spelt 'starring' wrong at the beginging. However, it was too late to change it as I couldnt edit it. I tried to cover it but it didnt work, so in the end I left it as it isnt too obvious.
